How can we help?
Everything worth knowing about Dailies, in one place. If your quotes stopped arriving, start with Notifications. That is nearly always where the answer is.

Getting started
What happens when I first open Dailies?
A short setup that lets Dailies personalize the quotes to you, and then you are done. You pick the topics you want to hear about, how often you want to hear from us, and the look you want your quotes to sit in.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email address and no password. Dailies has no accounts at all.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad, in portrait or landscape. It speaks English, Spanish, French, German and Simplified Chinese. It follows the language your iPhone or iPad is set to, and you can choose any of them under Profile → Language.
Notifications
My quotes have stopped arriving
Almost always one of these, in this order:
- Permission. Go to iOS Settings → Dailies → Notifications and check Allow Notifications is on, with Lock Screen ticked.
- A Focus mode. Sleep, Work and Do Not Disturb silence apps that are not on their allow-list. Add Dailies to the Focus you use, or check Settings → Focus.
- Your delivery hours. Open Personalize → Daily dose and look at the window you set. If it runs 9am to 5pm and you are checking at 8am, nothing is due yet.
One more, easily missed: Low Power Mode makes iOS deprioritize background work, which can delay delivery.
If all of that looks right, open the app once. Opening it prompts Dailies to rebuild its schedule.
How many can I get a day?
As few or as many as you like. Set it in Personalize → Daily dose, along with the earliest and latest hour you want to hear from the app. Dailies spreads them evenly through that window rather than bunching them together.
It is too much / not enough
Personalize → Daily dose, and move the number. Turning it down to one a day is a perfectly good way to use Dailies, and the change takes effect immediately.
Can I turn notifications off but keep the app?
Yes. Switch them off in iOS Settings → Dailies → Notifications.
Widgets
How do I add the Home Screen widget?
- Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen until the icons jiggle.
- Tap + in the top corner.
- Search for Dailies and choose it.
- Swipe to the size you want, tap Add Widget, then Done.
Dailies offers a medium and a large widget. There is no small size; a quote needs the room to stay readable.
There is an animated walkthrough of exactly this inside the app, under Personalize → Home screen widget.
The longer version, with widget sizes, stacks and what to do when Dailies is missing from the list: how to add a widget to your Home Screen.
How do I add the Lock Screen widget?
- Touch and hold your Lock Screen.
- Tap Customize, then tap Lock Screen.
- Tap the empty box under the time.
- Pick Dailies from the list.
- Tap Done.
iOS gives a Lock Screen widget one small box and draws it in a single tone, so Dailies puts a short quote there rather than a long one. Tap it to open the app on that quote.
You can set it up from inside the app too, under Personalize → Lock screen widget.
There are two other ways to get a quote onto the Lock Screen: notifications, and a quote saved as your wallpaper. All three are in how to put quotes on your iPhone Lock Screen.
How often does the widget change?
About once an hour. The Home Screen widget also has arrows on it, so you can step to the next quote or back to the last one whenever you like without opening the app. The Lock Screen widget follows the same quote.
My widget is stuck on the same quote
Usually iOS conserving battery. Try, in order:
- Turn off Low Power Mode; it aggressively throttles widget refreshes.
- Open the Dailies app once, which pushes a fresh quote to the widget straight away.
- Remove the widget and add it back.
The longer version, with every fix in order and what each symptom usually means: why your iPhone widget is not updating.
Saving and your own quotes
How do I save a quote I like?
Tap the heart on any quote. Everything you heart is kept together under Liked quotes. With Premium you can also follow Liked quotes as a topic of its own on the Topics screen, so your feed plays them back to you rather than serving new ones.
Can I write my own quotes?
Yes. Write your own lines under My quotes: a line somebody said to you, something from a book, or a note to yourself for the days it is needed. They are kept there whatever plan you are on.
With Premium, follow My quotes on the Topics screen and Dailies serves them back to you alongside the rest, in notifications, in the feed and on the widgets. Follow it on its own and your feed is made of your own lines alone.
What happens to them if I get a new phone?
They come with you. The quotes you write and the quotes you heart are mirrored to your own iCloud account, so installing Dailies on a new iPhone brings them back. There is no account to sign in to and nothing to restore by hand.
This needs iCloud turned on for your device. Nothing else is synced: your name, your topics and your chosen look are quick to set again, and a custom background photo stays in your photo library rather than eating your iCloud storage.
Are my own quotes private?
Yes. They live on your device and in your own iCloud account, which only you can read. We never see them, and they are never sent to us or to anybody else.
Making it yours
What can I change?
- Backgrounds: a large set of photographs, a range of gradients, your own photo, or a solid color you mix yourself.
- Typeface: a wide range of faces, and you set the text size.
- Effects: drifting dust, falling snow, mist, fireflies, meteors, lens flare, embers and more.
All of it lives under Theme.
Can I use my own photo?
Yes. Pick one from your library and it sits behind your quotes. This is a Dailies Premium feature, as is mixing your own solid color.
Does the app follow my phone's dark mode?
Yes! The app supports dark mode.
Privacy and your data
What does Dailies know about me?
The name you asked to be called, the topics you follow, your reminder settings, the language you chose, the quotes you hearted, the quotes you wrote yourself, and the look you chose.
Your own quotes and your hearted quotes are also mirrored to your own iCloud account so that they survive a new phone. Nothing else leaves the device except the anonymous usage measurements described in the policy.
See the Privacy Policy for more details.
Can I switch the usage measurements off?
Yes. Open Profile → Additional Info and turn off Share usage analytics. From then on nothing more is sent from your phone, and nothing in the app changes.
There is nothing else to switch off. Dailies shows no tracking prompt, reads no advertising identifier, and does no advertising tracking of any kind in the app.
Nothing here matches that. Try a different word, or just email help@mydailies.app and ask.
Want to get in touch?
- Something is broken, or you have a question: help@mydailies.app
- You have an idea for the app: feature.suggestion@mydailies.app
Both are read by the same person: the one who makes Dailies. Replies are not instant, and they are not a script either.
