Dailies vs I am
These two get filed together, and the shared parts are real: a large library of short lines, sorted by subject, arriving through the day on widgets and notifications. The split is what the line is. I am gives you a sentence to say about yourself; Dailies gives you one somebody else wrote about the world.
Affirmation or quote
An affirmation is a claim in the first person, present tense, written to be repeated: I am enough. I handle hard things. The mechanic is repetition: you are meant to say it, often, whether or not you believe it yet.
A quote is somebody else’s sentence, and the mechanic is recognition. Nobody is asking you to claim it. You read a line about fear written by someone who was afraid two hundred years ago, and either it lands or it does not.
The difference shows up on a bad day. An affirmation can read as an instruction you are failing to follow; a quote is just company. Plenty of people find the reverse (a quote is passive, an affirmation is something they can actually do), and they are the readers I am is built for.
The short answer
Choose I am if the practice you want is affirmation, or if you want it on an Apple Watch or a Mac, or if you read in one of the twelve languages Dailies does not ship. It is the biggest app in the world doing this, with 732,000 ratings and a 4.8 average.
Choose Dailies if I am confident and worthy of love makes you put the phone down. It also aims finer, gives you far more control over how the words look, and will not tell you when the next line is coming.
This is the rare comparison where temperament decides it rather than features. If you already know which of those two paragraphs is you, the rest is detail.

How each one aims
I am works from categories and intentions you pick: the areas you want to affirm, topped up with new material regularly. You choose the shelf and it draws from it.
Dailies asks the same question at finer grain. Under each broad heading sit narrow topics, specific enough to disagree with each other: when the worry won’t sit down, you’re allowed to be a beginner, say the hard thing, rest without earning it.
That granularity is the point: two people can both pick Work and want opposite things from it, and a category cannot tell them apart. Your feed is built only from the topics you follow, and you can change the set whenever you like.
Making it yours
Both apps let you restyle the line. I am offers themes, fonts and colors, refreshed regularly. Dailies goes further: a large set of photographic backgrounds grouped by landscape, a wide range of typefaces with a size slider, and a set of quiet motion effects painted over the photograph (drifting dust, fireflies, snow, mist, meteors, embers), all previewing live on a real quote as you tap.
A selection from each is free; Premium opens the rest, plus your own photographs and your own colors behind the words. Both apps also let you write your own lines. In Dailies they sit under My quotes, join the rotation on Premium, and stay on the device.
Delivery and devices
Both send reminders through the day and both have Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. For an affirmations practice the reminder is the product, and I am’s listing leads with it.
Dailies differs in one way: it will not tell you when. You set how many, which hours and which days, and it picks the moments inside that window itself. A notification at a time you chose becomes furniture; one you did not choose stays an interruption much longer.
On devices this is not close. I am runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and inside iMessage. Dailies is iPhone and iPad, with no Watch app. What it spends instead goes into the phone: the whole library is bundled in the download, so everything except the App Store purchase works in airplane mode.
What it costs
I am’s US listing showed $14.99 a month, $59.99 a year and $149.99 for life on 8 September 2026, alongside other price points between $9.99 and $69.99, the signature of a paywall being tested, so what you are offered may differ.
Dailies sells one thing: a yearly subscription with a free trial, priced in your currency and shown in full before you confirm. No monthly, no lifetime. It opens the full background, typeface and effect library, your own photos and colors, and the rest of the quote library.
Which one to pick
| If you… | Pick |
|---|---|
| Want an affirmations practice: statements you repeat about yourself | I am |
| Want it on the Watch, the Mac or in iMessage | I am |
| Read in a language Dailies does not offer | I am |
| Find first-person affirmations hollow or embarrassing | Dailies |
| Want topics cut finer than a category | Dailies |
| Want real control over backgrounds, typefaces and effects | Dailies |
If you are unsure, the cheap test is a week each. Both are free to try, and by day three you will know whether you would rather be handed a sentence about yourself or one about the world.
Questions
What is the difference between affirmations and quotes?
An affirmation is a first-person statement you say about yourself, meant to be repeated: I am capable of hard things. A quote is a line written by someone else that you read and either recognize or do not. I am is built on the first, Dailies on the second.
Does Dailies have affirmations?
Not as a category. Its library is quotes: original lines written for the app plus public-domain writing. You can write your own lines in any form you like, and on Premium they join the rotation.
Which one can I customize more?
Dailies: a large set of photographic backgrounds, a wide range of typefaces with a size slider, quiet motion effects, and your own photos and colors on Premium. I am offers themes, fonts and colors, refreshed regularly.
Which is cheaper?
They are close on the yearly plan. I am listed $59.99 a year on 8 September 2026 and also sells monthly and lifetime; Dailies sells a single yearly subscription with a free trial. Prices in this category move, so check both listings.
Does either work offline?
Dailies does, completely: the library ships inside the app and reminders are scheduled on the phone, so everything except the App Store purchase works with no network.
Is there an Android version of Dailies?
Not yet. Dailies is iPhone and iPad today. I am is on both platforms.
Sources
I am’s rating count, size, languages, age rating, device support and feature list were read from its US App Store listing on 21 September 2026, version 7.1.1; its price points were read from the same listing in the App Store app on 8 September 2026. Dailies is described from the shipping build, in words rather than figures: its library, free tier and delivery limits move with every release, so a number here would go stale.
